Tesoros de Guatavita: Diseño de un plan de interpretación para la comprensión y recuperación de los significados intangibles del patrimonio cultural

Abstract

Esta tesis se centra en el análisis y la caracterización del territorio de Guatavita con el propósito de diseñar un plan de interpretación del patrimonio cultural del municipio. El objetivo principal es valorar y conservar este patrimonio tanto para los turistas como para la comunidad local. Se emplea una metodología cualitativa de estudio exploratorio, respaldada por herramientas etnográficas como la observación, la percepción en imágenes y experiencias. La investigación se basa en la Ley General de Cultura (Ley 1185 de 2008), que establece la importancia de proteger, recuperar y divulgar el patrimonio cultural como testimonio de la identidad cultural nacional. Los objetivos de este trabajo se basan en caracterizar el territorio, identificar bienes patrimoniales, y diseñar un plan interpretativo. Todo bajo el modelo de Interpretación del Patrimonio del National Park Service (NPS), que se complementa con una propuesta específica. Los resultados de la investigación incluyen la implementación exitosa del plan interpretativo (NPS), que comprende siete fases. Durante este proceso, se seleccionaron los patrimonios culturales a interpretar y se siguió un proceso específico en cada fase del modelo. Este proyecto de investigación propone el diseño de un plan de interpretación del patrimonio cultural en el municipio de Guatavita, Colombia, con el propósito de compartir los significados intangibles, fomentar su preservación y apreciación. La interpretación del patrimonio se revela como una herramienta poderosa para influir en las actitudes y comportamientos de las personas y promover el cuidado y la valorización de los recursos culturales. Este trabajo sienta las bases para futuras investigaciones que puedan enriquecer el entendimiento y la apreciación de la cultura en Guatavita, con un enfoque en el impacto a largo plazo de las estrategias de interpretación implementadas. En última instancia, se espera que este trabajo contribuya a convertir a Guatavita en un destino turístico reconocido por su patrimonio cultural y la autenticidad de su comunidad, al tiempo que preserva este valioso legado para las generaciones futuras.

This thesis focuses on the analysis and characterization of the territory of Guatavita with the purpose of designing a plan of interpretation of the cultural heritage of the municipality. The main objective is to value and preserve this heritage for both tourists and the local community. A qualitative exploratory study methodology is used, supported by ethnographic tools such as observation, perception in images and experiences. The research is based on the General Law on Culture (Law 1185 of 2008), which establishes the importance of protecting, recovering and disseminating cultural heritage as a testimony of national cultural identity. The objectives of this work are based on characterizing the territory, identifying patrimonial assets, and designing an interpretative plan. All under the National Park Service (NPS) Heritage Interpretation model, which is complemented by a specific proposal. The results of the research include the successful implementation of the interpretative plan (NPS), which comprises seven phases. During this process, the cultural heritage to be interpreted was selected and a specific process was followed in each phase of the model. This research project has managed to design a plan for the interpretation of cultural heritage in the municipality of Guatavita, Colombia, with the purpose of sharing intangible meanings, promoting their preservation and appreciation. The interpretation of heritage is revealed as a powerful tool to influence people’s attitudes and behaviors and promote the care and enhancement of cultural resources. This work lays the foundations for future research that can enrich the understanding and appreciation of culture in Guatavita, with a focus on the long-term impact of the implemented interpretation strategies. Ultimately, this work is expected to contribute to making Guatavita a tourist destination recognized for its cultural heritage and the authenticity of its community, while preserving this valuable legacy for future generations.
