Ejercicio profesional de los y las trabajadoras sociales en el área de la salud en cinco unidades de cuidados crónicos y paliativos en la ciudad de Bogotá

Abstract

A través de los años el ejercicio profesional del Trabajador Social ha ido trascendiendo y evolucionando en las diferentes áreas laborales en los que ahora se encuentra posicionado, entre ellos el área de la salud. Con respecto a lo anterior, es necesario resaltar el ejercicio de los y las Trabajadoras Sociales que se desempeñan en el área de la salud con el fin de conocer desde sus propias voces la esencialidad de la profesión dentro de las Instituciones Prestadoras de Servicios de Salud en las unidades de cuidados crónicos y paliativos. Debido a esto, la presente investigación consistió en analizar el ejercicio profesional de los y las Trabajadoras Sociales a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas, durante el periodo comprendido entre el I y II semestre del año 2019, contando con la participación de cinco (5) Trabajadoras Sociales pertenecientes a cinco (5) diferentes Instituciones Prestadoras de Servicios de Salud en unidades de cuidados crónicos y paliativos en la ciudad de Bogotá, esta investigación es de orden cualitativo la cual se desarrolló bajo el paradigma comprensivo interpretativo a la luz del construccionismo social, con un alcance exploratorio-descriptivo . Los hallazgos de la investigación demuestran cómo el ejercicio profesional del Trabajador Social en el área de la salud busca visibilizar a través de las voces de los y las Trabajadoras Sociales la importancia de la profesión para hacer operativo el abordaje de los factores sociales que inciden en el proceso salud- enfermedad de los pacientes con sus familias para así contribuir a una atención integral de calidad para los pacientes y sus familias.

Over the years the Social Worker's professional exercise has been transcending and evolving in different labor fields in which it is now positioned, including the health area. With regard to the above, it is necessary to highlight the role of the Social Workers who work in the health areas with the final purpose to know from their own voices the essentiality of the profession within the Institutions Providing Health Services in the Chronic and Palliative Care Unities. Because of this, the present research was based on analyze different roles and functions corresponding to the professional exercise of the Social Workers through in-depth semi-structured interviews, during the period covered between the first and second semester of 2019, in which 5 social workers participated, belonging from 5 different Institutions Providing Health Services in the Chronic and Palliative Care Unities in the city of Bogotá. This investigation is qualitative and it was developed under the interpretive paradigm with an exploratory-descriptive scope. The research findings evidence how the role and the functions of the Social Worker in the health area have transcended of the purely assistance work to an operational management task and how it has positioned itself among the different spaces that the same profession has opened, with a high participation within of the different committees and boards carried out inside the institutions, those are made up by disciplines mostly belonging to the health branch.
