dc.description.abstractLa artritis reumatoide (AR) es una enfermedad de naturaleza autoinmune sistémica, se caracteriza por un estado de inflamación crónico, discapacidad progresiva, daño osteoarticular y consecuencias socioeconómicas de gran impacto en la calidad de vida del paciente. La determinación de la AR en etapas tempranas de la enfermedad puede predecir desenlaces del trastorno y así disminuir daños irreversibles. La EULAR/ACR establecieron en el año 2010 una serie de criterios clínicos clasificatorios y pruebas de laboratorio que incluyen el Factor Reumatoide (FR) y los anticuerpos anti-proteínas citrulinadas (anti-CCP), los cuales están asociados a la actividad de la enfermedad y al pronóstico de la misma. La identificación de nuevos biomarcadores que puedan asociarse a manifestaciones en estadios tempranos de le enfermedad ha cobrado gran interés, ya que hay pacientes que presentan niveles muy bajos o indetectables de FR y anti-CCP aun así presentando un elevado daño articular, dificultando el diagnóstico y las posibles opciones terapéuticas. La proteína Dickkopf-1 (DKK-1) es un regulador de la masa ósea y remodelación articular, se ha evidenciado su aumento a nivel sérico en presencia de resorción ósea, asociándose a un elevado valor predictivo en el desarrollo y severidad de la enfermedad. En el presente estudio se pretende establecer los niveles de la proteína DKK-1 en pacientes con diagnóstico de AR temprana y su asociación con índices de actividad clínica reumática, con el fin de determinar las condiciones que asocian la presencia de la DKK-1 y sus posibles capacidades de pronóstico durante el curso de la enfermedad.spa
