dc.description.abstract | Autoimmune diseases (AID) are a public health problem not only because their prevalence is
continuously increasing, but also because of the impact it generates in different sectors such as the
economic, social and cultural sector, as well as being the fourth cause of disability in the female
gender. This population is more susceptible to developing AIDs compared to the male gender. The
etiology of AIDs is unknown since its development is attributed to multiple internal (host genetics,
microbiome and hormonal activity) and external factors (environmental exposure, infections, among
others) that interact to constitute the exposome which is a key point to understanding the behavior of
AIDs. On the other hand, the increase in air pollution has generated various negative effects on human
health, thus becoming a health determinant since there is a great association between the appearance
of diseases of inflammatory origin and the continuous exposure to pollutants, especially Ozone (O3)
and Particulate Matter (PM).This research work focused on evaluating the effect of a standard
reference of particulate material (SRM1649b) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from patients
with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), through the measurement of viability, cellular cytotoxicity, and
cellular response by cytokines | eng |
