dc.description.abstractEn los últimos años, ha crecido la preocupación en cuanto a la seguridad y calidad de los alimentos. Los plaguicidas brindan protección a los cultivos, contribuyendo a su crecimiento apropiado y al rendimiento y calidad de producción de los mismos. Sin embargo, pueden permanecer por largos periodos de tiempo en los alimentos, la tierra e incluso en el agua causando su contaminación. El aguacate es una fruta ampliamente distribuida a nivel mundial, capaz de aportar diferentes beneficios nutricionales a la dieta. Dicho alimento está expuesto a una gran diversidad de agentes que causan enfermedades por lo que es esencial el uso de plaguicidas. No obstante, su uso indiscriminado puede contribuir directamente en la presencia de estos compuestos en el fruto. Por otro lado, el aguacate posee fitoestrógenos, compuestos producidos endógenamente, los cuales pueden imitar o modular la acción de los estrógenos endógenos y en consecuencia inducir respuestas biológicas. Un desbalance de dichas sustancias puede conllevar a un riesgo en el consumidor ya que algunas poseen actividad disruptora endocrina afectando negativamente la salud humana mediante la aparición de enfermedades. Por lo anterior, en el presente escrito se realizó una revisión documental sobre la presencia de disruptores endocrinos en el cultivo de aguacate y sus potenciales efectos. La metodología utilizada fue la revisión de artículos científicos, obtenidos de diversas bases de datos, acerca de los plaguicidas y fitoestrógenos con actividad disruptora endocrina relacionados a los cultivos y al fruto. La información recopilada permitió conocer las sustancias ya mencionadas, así como su capacidad de generar efectos adversos en salud relacionados a la disrupción endocrina.spa
